Creamy Buttermilk Dressing
SUBMITTED BY:
Emily Hockett
"This thick ranch-like dressing doesn't taste light. I used it to prepare a cold chicken and pasta salad. After trying it, a friend begged me for the recipe. --Emily Hockett of Federal Way, Washington"

"This thick ranch-like dressing doesn't taste light" - no kidding! Wow, this is delicious!! Easily as good as my favorite Ranch dressing, with half the fat and cals. I'll never it buy it again. Thanks SO much, Emily! (PS I think this could be really versatile too - I like the idea of adding blue cheese, as another reviewer suggested. Or some mint and grated cucumber for a Tzatziki-type of sauce.)

This dressing is so easy and tastes very much like the name brand Ranch from the store, but made with things that are in most everyone's kitchen! Very Good! It's no wonder everyone wanted a copy - thank you for sharing!

Decent enough salad dressing, but a little boring both in taste and appearance, and a little thick. I added extra buttermilk to thin it a bit. Then, after blending the dressing, I stirred in some fresh minced chives and fresh dill which livened it up with a flavor boost and gave it a much more appealing appearance. Both of these modifications greatly improved this dressing.

WOW... this was SO delicious. I had a friend over for lunch today and wanted to show her how easy it was to make your own dressing. Boy, did I pick the right recipe! I am so impressed, as it truly tasted like a dressing that has about 20 grams of fat (this one only has 6)... great submission and my friend and I really enjoyed that salad. One note-- while it may be even better after refrigerating for 1 hour, I served it immediately after blending and it still tasted fantastic! Thanks for this one!!

I have made this twice. My husband just loves this recipe. I use it for all kinds of salads. Especially good on Lettuce Wedge and a Cucumber Salad. Will be making this again and again. Thank you

I think it's great! It goes together quickly with things I normally have around the house and I like the flavor. I may try to add a bit of crumbled blue cheese for a bit of variety, but this is most definately a keeper.

Wonderful dressing! My only changes were to use just 1/2 cup mayo, and half of that was FF, and to add a generous dash of Penzey's Sandwich Sprinkle. I didn't use any salt, and I love that this dressing is not highly seasoned & salted like the commercial brands. The cider vinegar adds the perfect hint of tart. I will probably add more buttermilk next time to make it a little thinner. Used this on Sue's Taco Salad, from this website. Great recipe and thanks for sharing!

Very good. I used it on a tuna whole wheat pasta salad. Only thing is it's not THAT light as everybody's making it sound. I wouldn't call it diet food. You still have to go easy on it! But very tasty.
