I made this recipe for my sister's baby shower and everyone loved it! People asked me for the recipe! Beware-I did burn the sauce the first time so be sure to watch it closely. It thickened pretty quickly. I also will not add as much flour to the recipe. I thought there was a strong taste in the sauce, but overall a success! thanks

Love this recipe--have made it for a couple years now. The celery and walnuts add great texture and flavor contrast to the sweet apples and grapes. I do add about 1/4 t cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg to the dressing, as I'm incapable of making anything with apples and not using those spices : ) One minor gripe, though, that keeps me from giving it 5 stars--the recipe as written makes WAY too much dressing. As the dressing is quite sweet, the fruit chunks wind up sitting in pool of grayish sugar, which is not very attractive and is kind of sticky and gloppy in your mouth. I haven't bothered to rescale the dressing yet; I just make the salad, let it sit in the fridge for a few hours, then drain in a colander. That takes off probably 3/4 cup of dressing, which leaves the fruit, nuts and celery lightly coated instead of swimming. Other than the too-much dressing problem, this is a great recipe.

I was skeptical about including the celery, and although it actually worked quite well, I would probably omit it next time (just personal preference). Good stuff. Thanks, Kathryn!
