Dallas, Texas

Ninth largest city in the U.S., Dallas calls to mind big and brash with wide-open spaces anchoring gleaming skyscrapers, luxury hotels, shopping galleries, and art museums. And the food? Sure, you’ll find some of the world’s best chili, barbecue brisket, Tex-Mex, and steaks in Dallas, including regional ingredients like hot chiles, corn, and squash blossoms. But Dallas is an international city where Portuguese, Asian, Middle Eastern, and Latin American cuisines are served in restaurants and in the kitchens of home cooks.

Favorite Corn Bread

Reviewed on Oct. 5, 2008 by DallasLizzie
I'm giving this five stars because it didn't exactly require adjustments, but I found a few to be pretty helpful! Here are the changes I made: add 2 tbsp honey to the wet mix, use 1 tsp salt, substitute butter for shortening. That was it! This rose beautifully and has a nice golden color, as well as a crispy crust and tender crumb. We love it with our chili!

Delicious, fluffy, ridiculously easy! Perfect for a lazy Sunday brunch for two. Loved it, and wouldn't change a thing.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed on Oct. 3, 2008 by Jenn
So good! I followed the recipe as stated but omitted the onion and added in a package of onion soup mix like other reviewers. I noticed towards the end of the cooking time, the ketchup/brown sugar mix at the bottom had turned to juice. I didn't like that, so I poured out the juice, mixed up another k/bs mix and spread that across the top. This is definitely the way to go. My fiance hates ketchup and turned his nose up at it. I made him try it and he absolutely loved it. Thanks for the recipe. I will be eating this leftover for lunch today.
