Honey Bun Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
First time making this and took to Thanksgiving gathering. It was a HUGE HIT! As others suggested, I used cinnabon frosting & baked in bundt pan. The aroma is incredible as it bakes. Make it & have a cup of coffee ready when it comes out of the oven. Thank you!

Dad's Down Home Cornbread and Jalapeno Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
This is a very good basic recipe. I agreed with other reviewers that it needed something more so i added 1 packet of onion and vegetable soup mix and increased the cheese and it was delicious. The last time i made the recipe i was out of sour cream so i increased the milk a little and i liked it better. The flavors seemed to pop. In the future i will not add the sourcream and i will continue to work on this recipe.

Miracle Baking Powder Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
I've never given a bad rating before, but I had to say something so others wouldn't make the mistake of trying this. I made it exactly as directed and it just crumbled into pieces, I couldn't even make it form into anything. So, thinking I must've messed up somewhere I tossed it and tried it again, same results. If you somehow managed to make a crust out of this you are a miracle worker.

My family Really enjoyed this receipe! It was very Yummy, and we loved the Kidney Beans added to it. I added an extra can of Itilian style tomatoes and a large can of tomatoe sauce to the recipe and it made it extra yummy! We will add this to our monthly menu.

Chicken Wing Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
Very easy, quick, and very good. Brought to a football party this wknd. Everyone LOVED. Per earlier reviews, I substituted blue cheese dressing for the ranch, used 1 cup of hot sauce, and most importantly incresed the amount of chicken to about 3 1/2 generous cups (all of the meat from a 3 # rotisserie chicken which I purchased already cooked. The dip was still creamy and cheesy, but not too rich. Served w/ celery sticks and/or fritos. GREAT.

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
The only way to do a turkey. The Thanksgiving turkey has become my husband's baby and he always boils the brining mixture first, to dissolve the salt and bring out the flavors. After it cools, we put it in a large plastic trash bag with the turkey overnight in the fridge (or outside in a cooler if it's very cold!). He adds apples to the vegetables inside the turkey. Num, num!

Basic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
Great recipe! I tripled it and it made a HUGE amount! Freezes well for future use. I added several cloves of mashed roasted garlic at the end. Also added a bar of cream cheese (remember I tripled it) along with salt and pepper. Everyone loved it!

Pumpkin Mousse

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
This is a pretty complicated recipe for what I thought was an average/ok end dish. I used it as a trifle and layered it with whipped topping and crushed gingersnaps. It was well received but a bit heavy; maybe not the best way to use it. Not sure how I'd modify it just think maybe there's an easier way to get there. Still it was delicious and turned out exactly as the recipe described.

Mock Mincemeat Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
Loved it! I did need to add a about 1/2 cup more apple cider during the stovetop time or it would've dried out. I didn't have any rum left it out completely. Cooked it as a two crust pie. I have one son who is a big mincemeat (minus the meat) pie fan and so I always make one for him at holiday gatherings. He inhaled it and took the rest home with him! Will definitely make again! Thanks!
