Tourtiere (Meat Pie)

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
Finally! I've now found a recipe to rival my father's! Our grocery store sells a 'meatloaf mix' which is 1/3 lean ground beef, 1/3 ground pork and 1/3 ground veal. This is the only change I made. I doubled the recipe and am so glad I did ... because now we have another whole pie in the freezer for New Years Eve!! My husband is still raving to his family about the Tourtiere we had on Christmas Eve!

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
This turned out great for me and everyone loved it! I used 1/2 dark rye bread and 1/2 flourless whole wheat bread and out of habit (and because we like a moister dressingt, I didn't toast the bread. For this reason, too, I added shredded boiled potatoes. I don't stuff my turkey but cooked it on the stovetop and put it in the oven to keep warm. I also used fresh herbs. It was great! I'll definitely make this again next year :)

Shredded Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
We love our brussel sprouts so I was worried about messing with them, especially on Christmas Day, but not only were they relatively easy to make but they tasted GREAT and everyone loved them ... my husband even asked if we could have them every week! I followed other's advice and quartered the sprouts and I used double-smoked bacon. I didn't have green onions and didn't miss them. I'll definitely make them again. Thanks for a great addition to my favourites!

Easy Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
This was wonderful! I didn't add the milk, didn't think it needed it. Also, since all I had was cream of mushroom soup that is what went in. I will make this again for sure!

Delicious Apple Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
I thought this was delicious and so simple. I played with the measurements a bit because of other peoples reviews but I ended up in the end adding the same amount as it called for in the recipe. I did triple the recipe as well. My best advise is to add the ingredients a bit at a time until you find the flavor that you desire.

Veneto Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Very good base recipe but gave it 4 stars because I made changes. I added artichoke hearts, 1 tablespoon of sugar, garlic and more oregano. With these changes it made it a more balanced, less acidic dinner. I served it over rice, it was a nice dinner.

Spiced Pecans

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
Very good. I made this for my Thanksgiving salad that calls for spiced pecans. Wonderful on the salad as well as just to snack on.

Chicken with Mushrooms, Prosciutto, and Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
I made this recipe last night, and I can't stop thinking about how great it was! My family loved it. I did put my chicken ontop of an onion and rosemary. I also used creamy havarti rolled in the chicken. And I used a whole lot of mushrooms! Great recipe I cant wait to make it again!

Cinnamon-Raisin Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
Delicious! I used pecans for the nut topping and replaced most of the all purpose flour with rye flour (wheat intollerance). Next time I might make it with apples, I loved it and so did my family.

Roasted Chicken with Risotto and Caramelized Onions

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
SO TASTY!!! We went with other reviews and only used 6 cups of broth and it was just right. We also didn't use a whole onion - about 1/3 cup diced onion with the balsamic vinegar. When adding these into the risotto, we used a slotted spoon to catch all the onion and then added the balsamic to our taste - not overpowering at all when done this way. A definite keeper!

Hasty Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
This is very good when you want a quick and fast chocolate fix! I used less sugar (1/3 cup) and I think the next time I will use a 1/4 cup. I have also tried to make it in the microwave and on the stovetop and I prefer the stovetop...I found the microwave version a bit lumpy...overall though a good and easy recipe! I just made it again and used 1/4 cup of sugar, much better!
